New at Taste for 2010

Chair Welcome | New at Taste

Welcome

The P&G Taste of Cincinnati USA, presented by Time Warner Cable and Miller Lite, is the city’s showcase of music and food and the region’s annual kickoff to summer. Taste features approximately 45 area restaurants, more than 60 musical acts and approximately 500,000 grazing gourmets in attendance. Taste of Cincinnati USA will ladle up the food, fun and festivities on Memorial Day weekend: Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30 from noon to midnight, and Monday, May 31, from noon to 9 p.m. Admission to Taste of Cincinnati USA is free. For more information, visit this Web site, follow our fan page on Facebook and follow www.Twitter.com/CincyChamber.

What's New on the Taste Menu

Comedy A Plenty
For the first time in the history of the P&G Taste of Cincinnati, comedy acts will be included in the schedule of entertainment. The acts will appear at the Government Square Stage—sort of an intimate comedy club without the two-drink minimum—and will feature comedian Josh Sneed as the headliner. Sneed was the feature performer on his own Comedy Central Presents and has appeared on Premium Blend and The Bob & Tom Show. And we promise, no “knock knock” jokes.

Music for the People
The 2010 Taste features the most electric music lineup in the history of the event. With almost 70 musical acts performing a wide array of genres, including zydeco, blues, acoustic, jazz and reggae, even the most discerning music connoisseur is sure to find an act they enjoy. The event includes more original music and national acts than in recent years, including Visqueen from Seattle and American Bang from Nashville. And two budding local acts, the Bad Veins and Mia Carruthers of MTV fame, will make their Taste debuts. Festival crowd pleasers such as the Rusty Griswolds, the Sonny Moorman Band and the Sullivan Janszen Band all return again this year.

A Foodie Paradise
Five new restaurants join the Taste bill of fare this year: Cock & Bull English Pub, Loving Café, Roberto’s, ZZ’s Pizza and Claddagh Irish Pub, whose Fish & Chips received the “Award of Excellence” in the Seafood category at the Best of Taste competition. The winner of the “Best of Taste” award in the Seafood category, the Seafood Shanghai Noodle from Shanghai Mama’s, also is making its public debut at Taste of Cincinnati. Clean Freaks Last year, P&G infused the popular Pampers Stroller Speed Lane, a lane behind the vendor booths for strollers, into Taste. This year, the Bounty Quicker Picker Uppers, a dedicated team of germaphobes armed with Mr. Clean spray and Bounty paper towels, will be at each seating area ready to clean up after even the messiest of foodies.

The Katie Reider Spirit of Music Award
The second-annual Katie Reider Spirit of Music Award will be given at the Metromix Stage on Saturday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. Reider was an up-and-coming singer/songwriter who passed tragically at the age of 30, and the award is presented each year at Taste to a local musician who personifies Reider’s essence and that of the Cincinnati music scene. This year, the award will be presented to Kelly Thomas, a Cincinnati-based singer/songwriter with a 20-year history on the Cincinnati music scene and a legacy of giving back to the community.

Meats, Sweets and Tweets
Last year, Twitter was used by guests at Taste as a way to find great food, short lines and tweeps. Again this year, fans of Taste can follow the event, including regular updates, video, photos and more by accessing @CincinnatiParty. All twitterati are asked to include the #cincytaste hashtag within the tweet. News and updates also are available at TasteofCincinnati.com and the Taste fan page on Facebook.

A HYPE Party within a Party
Enjoy Taste of Cincinnati in VIP style with Taste the HYPE Saturday, May 29 from 7 to 11 p.m. on Fountain Square. For $30 a ticket or $25 for two or more, a guest will receive parking at the Fountain Square garage, beer and wine offerings, some of the best food from Taste and a prime location to hear the Rusty Griswolds perform. HYPE, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s young professional initiative, is sponsoring this exclusive party area. To register, visit tastethehype.com.

Hope in a Can
P&G is asking guests to drop off a canned good at the Cincinnati USA-P&G booth at Fountain Square to support “Bringing Hope to the Table,” partnership with P&G and Kroger supporting the FreeStore Foodbank. In exchange the donation, guests will receive a coupon for a free reusable Kroger Shopping Bag and discount coupons to the Butterfly Show at Krohn Conservatory.

The Science Behind the Seal
Good Housekeeping Seal is celebrating its 100th birthday by bringing its New York City product approval labs to life on the streets of Cincinnati USA. The exhibit is designed to be a replica of the Good Housekeeping Research Institute and is made up of seven interactive labs that explain how products are evaluated. The labs will even, for example, release the scent of scent of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. For more information, visit ghriontour.com.
